| George Casella gave the 38th annual Craig Lectures at the University of Iowa on April 30 and May 1, 2009. The titles of his two talks were"Estimation in Dirichlet Random Effects Models" and "From R. A. Fisher to Microarrays: Why 70 year-old Theory is Relevant Today". | |
| George Casella was elected as a "Corresponding Foreign Member" of the Spanish Royal Academy of Sciences. The Academy dates to the times of Queen Isabel II (1847) and includes a large number of Nobel Prize winners amongst its Corresponding Members. | |
| Mike Daniels was appointed the Program Chair for the 2010 Eastern North American Region (ENAR) of the International Biometrics Society Annual Meeting. | |
| Malay Ghosh gave the 4th Seymour Geisser Memorial Lecture
on "Objective Priors: a Selective Review'' at the University of
Minnesota on October 1, 2008. He also delivered a plenary address entitled "Some New Results on Benchmarking in Small Area Estimation'' at the 2009 Small Area Estimation Conference held in Elche, Spain during June 29-July 1, 2009. |
